We gather performing artists who are at the beginning, somewhere in the middle, or on their way into a proffessional life with theatre/dance or music. We welcome Norwegian and international applications — people from Østfold need to build a network and find inspiring people to create together with!
After 17 years of theatre and film camps on the farm, primarily for young people, we at Åsheim know how inspiring it is to live and create together over a period of time. At our festival ÅsheimFEST — 28–30 August this year, we will have a performative forest walk as part of the programme. During our SPRING residency, we will explore elements that could be part of a night walk after midnight for a young adult/adult audience, and a daytime walk for children and families the following day. During the spring residency, we create together. We draw on the life we observe, taste and smell out in the forest, stories the forest carries with it, and discoveries we make together. We create collectively, in a laboratory where we explore — through creative writing, forest bathing, music-making, tree climbing, and digging in the moss. A lot of felling has taken place this winter. There are large wounds in the landscape. This will also be part of the experience. You will gain insight into Tiril Pharo’s many years of practice in collaborative creation, and you can bring and try out your own ideas or projects that can become small or large moments in the forest at Åsheim. We build on the curiosity and competence that participants bring. We will spend some time establishing a forest camp, which will serve both as a stage and as accommodation in the days before and during the festival in August. You will not receive a fee, but you will receive board and lodging, a strong sense of community, and a unique opportunity to create together and form artistic connections. BOARD AND LODGING During the May residency, you will be accommodated in a double room in Langhuset, and meals are prepared and eaten together in Drengestua on the farm, in our well-equipped kitchen. Before and during the festival in August, the group will stay in a forest camp, in hammocks or tents. DATES SPRING residency — 26–31 May (Can’t make the full period? Apply anyway — perhaps we can piece together something that works.) ÅsheimFEST 25–30 August 2026 The open festival runs 28–30 August. In the days before, the group will create the performative forest trail, based on the May residency. Generasjonsteatret in Spydeberg will also take part in the daytime walk on Sunday 30 August, with fantastical characters appearing in the forest. Generasjonsteatret is an amateur theatre group connected to Spydeberg Frivilligsentral, with members aged between 5 and 85. TRAVEL We do not cover travel costs, but if you are an international participant, you can apply for mobility support from the EU. We can pick participants up from the train station in Spydeberg.
